La Paz

La Paz is the capital of the department of the same name and it is the headquarters of Bolivia government. This city (3,650 mt asl) combines perfectly the modern with the old architectures which are the heritage of the Spanish and the old Bolivians, with its beautiful blue sky, colonial churches, squares and artisanal markets, as well as its shining snow-covered Illimani with 6,403 meters of altitude, the powerful guardian of the city.

In Murillo Square, which bears the name of who led the revolution in 1809 and made it possible for the people of the cry of freedom, Mr. Pedro Murillo; highlights the monument made in the middle of the square in honor of this martyr and around the Presidential Palace, the headquarters of the Republic Congress and the Cathedral.

Its Cathedral built in 1831 shows us its neoclassical style with Impressive Corinthian columns and facade divided into two sides. Also highlights its colonial churches like the Temple and Convent of Saint Francisco and the Temple of Saint Domingo, a couple of architectural examples with baroque facades.

Another signs of its past are the museums where conserve and show beautiful colonial pictures collections and things used by its ancestors the first Bolivian inhabitants.
