This is a hike for people with physical training, we have to cross 4 passes, and the highest one is at 4560 meters, a combination of steep climbing where we can appreciate beautiful snow covered picks and challenging downwards pats. The highlights of the tour are our visits to the ruins of Choquequirao city, that was thought to be the “lost Inca city”, since it was discovered on 1992 it has being restore by people that works in the ruins, it receives a very few visitors because of the remote area and difficult hike to reach it; before we will continue to the marble city of MachuPicchu that was discovered in 1912 by Hiram Bingham and now is the most important tourist attraction of Peru, you cannot lose it.


ITINERARY:

Cuzco - Cachora - Chikisqa - Playa Rosalina - Santa Rosa - Choqueriao - Pinchu Unuyoc - Rio Blanco Maizal - Yanama - Lluzcamayo - Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu

DAY 1: CUZCO - CACHORA - CHIKISQA

Pick up from airport or from your hotel and go by private bus to Cachora and meet the mule-drivers there, start the hike with easy walking to the viewpoint Incahuasi (possibility to see condors and good views into the Apurimac valley) and walk down to CHIKISQA to camp there or a little further down to the Apurimac river.

All this day we will walk about 5 or 6 hours.

DAY 2: CHIKISQA - PLAYA ROSALINA - SANTA ROSA - CHOQUEQUIRAO

We continue our trek until Santa Rosa, place where we can take a rest to continue until the camp site, it takes about 6 hours, the ascend passage is about 4 hours. A beautiful view of la cordillera de Vilcabamba.

DAY 3: CHOQUEQUIRAO - PINCHU UNUYOC

After breakfast, we will have a guided tour of CHOQUEQUIRAO, and then we continue the trek to the ruins of Pinchu Unuyoc with lots of terraces and some baths.

Camp around here. Walk 2 hours up and 2 hours down. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and camping.

DAY 4: PINCHU UNUYOC -RIO BLANCO MAIZAL

We begin the trek to descend to Rio Blanco, place where we begin to ascend. In this route we are going to find just one family who we will contact with.

We can appreciate some panoramic views of the top of Choquequirao. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and camping.

DAY 5: MAIZAL - YANAMA

We continue the trek this day until Victoria, where we visit the mines, that worked until 60’s, and then the trek continues until Yanama Andean town. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and camping.

DAY 6: YANAMA - LLUZCAMAYO

After few hours of hiking up you will be on another pass, sometimes condors are around so maybe we can see them.

After that it is relaxing walking down, entering in a valley where some small communities still practice ´trueque´, or interchange of their products. Campsite in one of these communities. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and camping.

DAY 7:  LLUZCAMAYO - AGUAS CALIENTES

This is a descend day to the Playa community this is a richness zone in flora because is a vegetation place; forest and rivers.

Then we transport to the Hydro-electric where we continues the trek until Aguas Calientes . breakfast, lunch, dinner and Overnight in hostal.

DAY 8: AGUAS CALIENTES - CUSCO

This is a special day because we visit the archaeological site of MACHU PICCHU. Guided tour, then free time to enjoy the site and take pictures.
In the evening return to Cusco.
