This is a special expedition, in which we will walk between 4000 and 4500 meters above sea level through the highlands of Cusco city to the Sacred Valley of the Incas. We will visit archeological sites like Tipon and H´uchuy Qosqo and enjoy the nice panoramic view of the snow in the Valley’s peaks, ending in the archaeological group of H’uchuy Qosqo.
ITINERARY:
Cuzco - Tipon - Picol - Punas - Patabamba - Huchuy Qosqo - Lamay
DAY 1: CUZCO - TIPON - PICOL\
Pick up from airport or from your hotel and transport to TIPON, where you will have a guided tour, and after this we will contact with the porters to start the hike. Walking about 6 to 7 hours, camping in the Punas or the highest part of the mountain. Lunch and dinner.
DAY 2: PUNAS - PATABAMBA
After an early breakfast, we will start the hike with destiny to Patabamba community; from there you can have a panoramic view of Ausangate snowed, and then descend to the Sacred Valley road to cross it. After that there is a climbing walk to the campsite near the village of Patabamba. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and camping.
DAY 3: PATABAMBA - H´UCHUY QOSQO - LAMAY - CUZCO
After breakfast, we will walk to the fascinating site of H´uchuy Qosqo, where the Inca chief Viracocha lived. The mummy that was found here is said to be from him.The ruins are part stone and part adobe; you will be surprised because of the extraordinary constructions of this place.
There is a great hall, 40 meters long, a great esplanade, where parades were used to realize, a lots of terraces. Some of the constructions are post-Inca but they have Inca-style influence.
After a guided tour in the ruins you will descend to the village of Lamay. Then we will return to Cusco.Breakfast, lunch, dinner and camping.
