This tour combines a beautiful short walk in the town of Maras, and an excursion in Moray, considered as Inca’s laboratory and then a guided tour of the most famous archaeological complex: Machu Picchu.
ITINERARY:
Cuzco - Maras - Moray - Machu Picchu.
Day 1: CUZCO - MARAS- MORAY
Pick up from the Airport to your hotel, and then transport from your hotel to Maras town. We will start walking in this town, which has nice colonial doors in its main street. Your bilingual guide will be always with you. Nearby, in Moray you will find ¨the Inca laboratory¨.
The circles were used for the development of different strains of crops. Between the highest and lowest terraces there is a difference of up to 15 degrees.
Although the difference between neighboring terraces is very small, it is great enough to create distinct microclimates that change growing conditions and allow the propagation of a huge variety of plants each one with different growth requirements.
After this very atmospheric place you walk down to the salt pans of Maras. Here more than 5000 terraces are still in production and many families of Maras bring their salt to the Urubamba market on mules.
A short but steep way brings you to Tarabamba in the Sacred Valley where you take a car to Ollantaytambo.
In Ollantaytambo you take the afternoon train to Aguas Calientes.
DAY 2: MACHU PICCHU - CUZCO
This day you will take an early bus to the entrance of Machu Picchu and have a guided tour in this Inca-site and then have free time to explore the ruins by yourself or maybe to take some pictures.
In the afternoon you will take a train back to Cusco.
